Oh snap!

In a few hours Keith will be starting the paperwork for a medical board.  For those who don't know, this means he is getting out of the military.  The doctors have decided his PTSD is bad enough that they dont feel comfortable sending him back to Iraq.  So he will have to present to a board, they give him a severence and he will recieve disability for-ev-er.  At least thats how I think it works.  Im not completely sure.

What does this mean for us?  We're coming back to Utah, it's his home of record and we have a lot of connections there through my folks.  We will find a small house or apartment to rent for cheap (which should be fun as we have a dog and I hate to stick her with my folks like MY SISTER DID WITH HER DOG BUTTERS).  Keith is going to get his paramedic cert before we get to Ogden, otherwise he is completely qualified to be an EMT (but we'd have a rough time living on 10 bucks an hour).  Im going to school ASAP.  Luckily between the inheritance and his severence, we're going to zero ourselves out and start again completely.  It's FRIGGIN SCARY!  But so exciting.

I have no idea what to expect, but I am so happy he's not going back to Iraq.  But feeling guilty because he really should be, and someone else is going in his place.  He feels guilty because he's just not hacking it.  But we have both had enough at this point.

Elijah is estatic to get back to the OOtah.  He wants snow and papa.  We're not sure how long this is going to take, I say by Xmas.  He says by Nov 1.  Eeep.  Just take it in stride I guess.

What a way to get my world completely pulled down. But I am so excited.  I can't wait.

Guess I really should look into a name change token now, hahaha.

Well, it's not a bad thing. Especially if they think his condition is that bad. The thing with boards is you have too try to plan as much given the loose timeline you have. Also, Keith has to stay on his toes with VA to make sure he gets all the disability he possibly can.

I joined the Disabled American Veterans and they have helped me out with my claims for disability. I am getting disability for my wrist and a some slight counseling for PTSD. That group has helped me with my filing and has member lawyers who can go into hearing with me as well. Just a tip.

I hope it all works out.
Niether of you should feel guilty. He went when called and did an awesome job. It's time to move on.
I'm glad he's getting out. Make SURE he gets plenty of treatment, ok? I'd hate for him to end up like my dad did.

I wouldn't feel bad. He's already done a lot! I kind of wish Justin was getting out, but yah....that's not going to happen.

I hope everything works out for the best! *hugs*
